The elegance and grace of Cherry matures with age as the wood grows richer in color. The ultimate determinant in the final shape of this piece was the wood grain itself. Following it revealed the best features of the block.
While the transition in color from the light heartwood to the darker rim makes this bowl appear to be turned from a combination of woods, it was actually turned from a single piece of Kwila wood.
This voluptuous little 4" high Mahogany bowl was created by gluing together 3 pieces of scrap wood left over from various furniture projects. Even small remnants of this sublime wood are treasures.
The natural color of Canary wood is brilliant when finished with clear polyurethane. Accent lines burned into the circumference of this bowl with steel wire are used to compliment the beautiful rippled grain of the wood.
Inspired by East Indian architecture, this bulbous looking urn with its uniquely designed lid presents a powerful image. The marbled nature of the grain, the Wenge wood tip accent on the lid, and the gloss finish complete the desired effect.
Ambrosia Maple is an magnificent wood. When highly polished it takes on the look of marble. The silky smoothness of a finished piece is as much a delight to the touch as the color and grain are a delight to the eyes.
This simple art form imparts both a sense of stability
and delicacy as a result of its shape and the type of
wood used to create it.
